May 3,
We woke to a beautiful day instead of the thunderstorms predicted, so we decided to start up the Natchez Trace toward Nashville. The Trace is a route that closely follows the old route taken by Native Americans and rivermen going through farmland and forests. We stopped at a cypress swamp that was really beautiful with sunlight filtered through the leaves and birds singing everywhere. We ended our trip for the day in Tupelo at a nice campground with cable and wifi, where we found that the rains in Nashville were alot more severe than we thought. We may have to postpone Nashville until another time.
