At the end of the road was the lighthouse with beautiful views. It is located atop a 245 foot cliff and rises 59 feet. The 2nd order Fresnel lens can be seen twenty two miles at sea. It was built before there were roads so everything was brought by boat and hauled up.
I climbed the 63 steps to see the views and a working light. The light isl maintained by the Coast Guard and is still a functioning aid to navigation. Some of the lens crystals have been vandalized on this lens but not to the extent of Cape Meares.
"Whale rock" was one of the great vistas from the cliff.
