Monterey

September 30,
The first two days we were in Gilroy, Ca. it was over 100 degrees. Luckily it did not last and by the time we headed to Monterey, it was very pleasant. Monterey is a very charming town with
it's Cannery Row and beautiful shoreline. There is a walking-bike path following the shore that was being used by many that day. We stopped along the path to take pictures and watch the seals and sea otters---it was the one place we saw them.

We got to The Point Pinos Lighthouse just before it was open for tours but I got a couple of pictures. For the most part the Western Lights are not as well restored as the Eastern ones and they have far smaller collections of furniture and lightkeeper's belongings.

We continued heading south on Rt. 1 and detoured into Carmel by the Sea. We passed many high end shops on our way to the beach. As you can see, the fog had reappeared but L.D. and Lily still had a great romp on the dog friendly beach.
