September 19,
While staying in Willits, we took another of those rides to Rt. 1----never straight or level. I had read that Mendocino was a beautiful "New England" town on the West Coast. This turned out not to be totally true.....for a New Englander. The coastline was ruggedly beautiful but the weather was cloudy and I always like the world better in the sunshine. Mendocino was OK but the restored light at Pt. Carbrillo was well worth the trip. It is one of the most complete Light Stations in the US, with 12 of it's 15 buildings still standing. The lens still shines brightly to guide recreational boaters.
