August 4,
Jon and Annie's next adventure was to Artist Point, the end of the Mt. Baker Scenic Byway. Artist Point had only recently opened due to the amount of snow left from the winter, the cold spring and early summer coolness. We took a short hike to Nooksack Falls, a beautiful area in an old woods area. Annie and I walked around part of Picture Lake and got the the picture that thousands of other have taken-second picture. The ice and cold had so recently left the Picture Lake area that the miniature violets were just blooming and the iris were just short leaves with no buds even apparent. The final picture is of the bathroom facilities at Artist Point---they are still buried with snow. Did not venture to see just how cold it was inside.
